Dr. Tracey Marks has only seen this one time in a hospital setting when she was in training. I have only seen it once in the hospital and two or three times in the community.

The International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation conceptualizes two therapeutic outcomes for this disorder: functional multiplicity and final fusion. In functional multiplicity, the system is still plural, but has co-conciousness, coöperation, and there is no self-harming behaviors. In final fusion, the system merges down so that all the parts are just experienced as one unified identity. There is no cutting, and so forth.
